Questions about the Employer of Choice Index.

01 What is the Employer of Choice Index?

The Employer of Choice Index measures how well your company performs across key employee experience dimensions: compensation competitiveness, growth opportunities, work-life balance, leadership quality, and workplace culture. It benchmarks your practices against top employers in California.

02 How is this different from the HR Risk Score?

While the HR Risk Score focuses on compliance and legal exposure, the Employer of Choice Index measures employee satisfaction drivers and retention factors. Together, they give you a complete picture of your HR health—both the protective (compliance) and proactive (culture) sides.

03 How long does the assessment take?

The Employer of Choice Index takes approximately 12-15 minutes to complete. Questions cover your current practices around compensation, benefits, career development, management, and workplace environment.

04 Who should complete this assessment?

The assessment is designed to be completed by business owners, HR directors, or senior leaders who have visibility into company culture, compensation practices, and employee programs. Multiple leaders can take it to compare perspectives.

05 What metrics does the index measure?

The index evaluates five core dimensions: (1) Compensation & Benefits competitiveness, (2) Career Growth & Development opportunities, (3) Work-Life Balance & Flexibility, (4) Leadership & Management quality, and (5) Culture & Values alignment.

06 How can I use the results to improve retention?

Your results will highlight specific areas where you're underperforming compared to top employers. You'll receive actionable recommendations for each dimension, prioritized by impact on employee retention and engagement.

07 Is benchmark data included?

Yes, your scores are compared against industry benchmarks and top California employers. You'll see how you rank in each dimension and what score you'd need to reach 'Employer of Choice' status.

08 Can I track progress over time?

Absolutely. We recommend retaking the assessment quarterly to track your improvement. Your previous scores are saved so you can see trends and measure the impact of your initiatives.
